Free Form is an inexpensive solution for completing preprinted forms using your AS/400 printer. Free Form provides users with data entry and formatted printing capabilities without
requiring one minute of valuable programming time.Free Form can be used to complete express mail forms, purchase orders, shipping orders, service orders, invoices,
insurance forms, real estate contracts, and the list goes on and on. In fact, with all of the preprinted forms floating around today, Free Form could easily become one of your most used applications. Using
Free Form is a simple three-step process.
- Define the preprinted form.
- Enter the data to be printed on the preprinted form.
- Print the data on the preprinted form.
Free Form features include:
- Up to 850 entry fields per record, using any combination of alphanumeric, numeric, signed numeric, date, or constant (boilerplate) text.
- Constant text is saved with the form definition and prints automatically with the data entries on every form. This is useful for company names and addresses, headings, account numbers, etc.
- Data can be left or right justified.
- Alphanumeric text can be entered in all uppercase or upper/lower case.
- Any entry field can be defined as an auto-dup field for automatic duplication during entry, or the DUP key can be used to duplicate any field from the previous record.
- Numeric and date fields can be printed in an edited format (e.g. commas, signs, zero suppressed, etc.)
- Forms may be defined to print 4, 6, or 8 lines per inch, and 10 to 15 characters per inch. You may specify the number of copies to print, a specific printer ID to use, and a special
forms number to use. These options can be modified at print time.
- Works with any printer.
- All forms can be printed at one time, or you may print only certain forms.
- After printing, the data may be saved to a permanent file prior to deleting the data. You may wish to keep this information for historical purposes or for access at later time using
Query or a user-written program.
